NPS Calculator: Estimate Your National Pension System Corpus

The National Pension System helps build a retirement corpus through regular contributions into market-linked funds. This NPS calculator estimates corpus at retirement from monthly contribution, expected return, and years left, then illustrates how an annuity allocation splits that corpus between lumpsum and annuity portions.

Adjust the inputs below for a quick planning view. Results are illustrative educational estimates — not investment, pension, or tax advice. Verify contribution limits, exit rules, and annuity requirements with official NPS/PFRDA sources before making decisions.

Frequently asked questions

What does this NPS calculator show?

It projects an estimated NPS corpus at retirement from your monthly contribution, assumed annual return, and years remaining, then splits that corpus into lumpsum and annuity portions using your annuity allocation percentage.

Why is annuity allocation capped from 40% upward here?

Current NPS exit framing commonly requires a minimum portion of the corpus to be used to purchase an annuity, with the rest available as lumpsum (rules differ by subscriber type and can change). The slider starts at 40% as an educational default — confirm official PFRDA/NPS rules for your case.

Are NPS returns guaranteed?

No. NPS invests in market-linked funds (equity, corporate debt, government securities, etc.). Assumed returns in this calculator are constant for modelling only and are not a guarantee or investment advice.

How does NPS interact with tax benefits?

NPS contributions may qualify for deductions under sections such as 80CCD (including an additional ₹50,000 under 80CCD(1B) in common educational framing under the old regime). Tax rules and regimes change — this tool does not compute your tax liability.

Should I rely only on NPS for retirement?

Most households combine EPF/PPF, NPS, mutual fund SIPs, and other assets. Use this estimate alongside the retirement and goal calculators, and review asset allocation for your age and risk capacity.
