Findost calculator
Solar savings calculator for India
Estimate system size, PM Surya Ghar subsidy, payback and long-term savings using your state, DISCOM and household consumption.
I look at rooftop solar the way I look at any investment: money out today, a stream of savings later. When clients ask me whether it's worth it, I ask them to compare the payback against what the same rupees could earn elsewhere. The calculator below gives you the solar side. For the other side, run the same amount through the lumpsum calculator.
How this estimate works
The calculator models indicative slab-based electricity tariffs, rooftop generation, net-metering exports, available PM Surya Ghar subsidy and a 25-year savings horizon. Actual results depend on sanctioned load, roof orientation, vendor quote, DISCOM rules, tariff revisions and installation quality.
The mistake I see most
Sizing the system off one scorching May bill. Use 12 months of units from your DISCOM bills, and check your sanctioned load before you sign. An oversized system mostly exports power at whatever your DISCOM pays for it, which is often less than what you pay per unit.
Before you decide
Confirm the latest tariff order with your DISCOM and current subsidy rules on the official PM Surya Ghar portal. Obtain at least two empanelled-vendor quotations and have the proposed system checked by a qualified installer.
